Welcome all Ubuntu (“Linux for Human Beings“) users, and those from the WinDOH!s (I mean Windoze… I mean Windows!) and Mac worlds who are interested in having a look at this great OS!
The purpose of this blog is to:
- provide some essential tips for newbies
- showcase cool programs not everyone knows about
- highlight little-known command-line tricks
- address some common “issues” that are easily remedied
You’ll find all sorts of stuff here, from system-related tips down to some silly fun with novelty tricks. There are instructions aimed at newbies for some basic things like making launchers, getting familiar with the terminal via some basic commands (like eject), and adding support for DVD playback and assorted media files. For more advanced users, there are really useful programs you might not know about (like QtTube for downloading YouTube clips), command-line tricks you may not have come across (even if you’re a “Terminal junkie“), as well as things you can add to or fix/change in the guts of Ubuntu.
Hopefully, you will find some posts here of interest to you, and that they add to your pleasure of using Ubuntu. For those who haven’t made the step yet, hopefully some of the cool tricks here will inspire you to give Ubuntu a try soon! After all: Ubuntu is TOTALLY FREE to download and install!
